Meet the Speakers

Honey V. Reddi, PhD, FACMG - Medical College of Wisconsin 
Honey V Reddi, PhD, FACMG, is the Chief Medical Director of the Genomic Sciences and Precision Medicine Center at the Medical College of Wisconsin (MCW). Prior to joining MCW, Dr. Reddi has held positions of leadership at the Jackson Laboratory in Farmington CT, Transgenomic in both Connecticut and Nebraska and PreventionGenetics in Marshfield, Wisconsin. Dr. Reddi completed her PhD in Biotechnology at Jamia Hamdard in New Delhi, India, followed by a Clinical Fellowship in Molecular Genetics at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota, where she also led a translational research program focused on thyroid cancer. Dr. Reddi’s research interests include cancer biology, viro-therapeutics and the genetics of somatic and inherited disorders. In 2018 Dr. Reddi received the prestigious “Women of Innovation Award” in the Category of Large Business Innovation and Leadership from the Connecticut Technology Council, which recognizes extraordinary creativity and leadership in bioscience and technology. Dr. Reddi is an American Board of Medical Genetics and Genomics (ABMGG) certified clinical molecular geneticist with over two decades of translational research experience, successful at leading CLIA/CAP/NYS accredited genetic testing labs. She is passionate about impacting patient-care through innovation and translation and is known for inspiring women in Biomedical sciences through her leadership ethic.

Gang Zheng, MD - Mayo Clinic
Dr. Zheng is an associate professor in pathology and a co-director in the genomics lab at Mayo Clinic Rochester. He serves as a chair of molecular analysis committee for international society of laboratory hematology, and also an expert advisor in molecular diagnosis for CLSI (Clinical & Laboratory Standards Institute). He has published over 60 peer reviewed paper in the field of hematolopathology and molecular pathology, and serves on the editorial boards for multiple journals.

Donald Karcher, MD, FCAP is Professor and Immediate Past Chair, Department of Pathology, at the George Washington University Medical Center in Washington, DC. He received his MD degree from the Louisiana State University School of Medicine in New Orleans and completed residency training in anatomic and clinical pathology at the Brooke Army Medical Center at Fort Sam Houston (San Antonio), Texas. He then served as Director of Hematopathology at Walter Reed Army Medical Center in Washington, DC and subsequently at LSU Medical Center in New Orleans. From 1984 to the present, Dr. Karcher has been on the faculty in the Department of Pathology at the George Washington University Medical Center, rising through the ranks to become Chair of Pathology in 1999, a role in which he served for 20 years. He is Board-certified in Anatomic and Clinical Pathology and Hematopathology, and he continues to actively practice and teach hematopathology, flow cytometry, and laboratory administration at GW.

Dr. Karcher is active in many national and international medical and pathology organizations. He currently serves as President-Elect of the College of American Pathologists (CAP), following service as chair of the CAP Council on Government and Professional Affairs and Council on Education and for many years as a member of the CAP Board of Governors and Executive Committee. For several years, Dr. Karcher has been a leader in the Association of Pathology Chairs (APC), the preeminent organization of academic pathology departments in the US and Canada, and served as APC President in 2014-2016.

Bonnie Choy, MD - Northwestern University
Dr. Bonnie Choy is an Assistant Professor of Pathology at Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine. She earned her undergraduate degree from Cornell University and medical degree from University of Rochester. She completed her Anatomic and Clinical Pathology residency at the University of Chicago, followed by fellowships in Surgical Pathology at the University of Chicago and in Cytopathology at Massachusetts General Hospital. She is the Associate Program Director for the Pathology Residency and Cytopathology Fellowship. She is also the Director of the Fine Needle Aspiration Service in the Division of Cytopathology.

Derrick Chen, MD - Medical Director and Assistant Professor of Clinical Microbiology, UW Health Madison
Dr. Derrick Chen is currently the Medical Director of the Clinical Microbiology Laboratory at the UW Health University Hospital in Madison, Wisconsin. He is certified by the American Board of Pathology in Anatomic and Clinical Pathology, and Medical Microbiology. He completed residency training at Cleveland Clinic in Cleveland, Ohio, and fellowship training at Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota.

Adam Morgan, MD - Laboratory Medical Director, Hematopathologist, St. Mary's Hospital, Madison 
Adam Morgan, M.D., is a practicing pathologist with Associated Pathologists at SSM Health St. Mary’s Hospital Madison and lives in Waunakee, WI, with his wife and children. Dr. Morgan practices general pathology and hematopathology, serves as the medical laboratory director, and has been in practice nine years since finishing residency and fellowship training at the University of Wisconsin-Madison

M. Shahriar Salamat, MD, PhD, earned his medical degree from St. George's University School of Medicine in Grenada, West Indies and completed his residency at the University of California-Davis Medical Center in Sacramento.
